Health Insurance

It has been one fight after another with our health insurance coverage. Don't get me wrong the coverage is great, it's just gettting them to actually pay for things. I got a letter in the mail saying that Ada's last Synagis shot was not covered. This is a shot that immunizes for RSV. It is very expensive and only high risk babies/children receive it and it has to be preapproved. So the letter was telling Andy and I that we owed $2200.00 to our provider. I about peed my pants. Needless to say I have been on the phone for the last two days trying to figure this out. Finally the doctors office came back and said that it was their mistake. Few! That was a relief. Especially since she is to get another one of these shots on Friday. Too much red tape. Did I hear someone say kids are cheep? I can't wait for summer and for Ada to get through her surgery so that I can relax a little!

Things I've Learned

Since I started having children there are a few things that I have learned:

• You stop listening to your favorite music in the car and listen to Fisher Price songs, or play a movie just to keep the kids from screaming
• change the boy baby diapers as fast as you can, and duck!
• When your son scores his first goal in soccer, the parents are more excited than the child is. (That would have been me today at Mason's soccer game)
• You can never pack enough changes of clothes or diapers
• You pack up the pantry and toy chest to make it through three hours of church
• You can never get enough hugs and kisses
• Your child's frustrations become your frustrations
• A bribe can go a long way (oops not a bribe an incentive)
• Pray for the strength to do the Lord's will, and the courage to accept it
• Just keep a goin'!
• That the tooth fairy is poor.
• Being a mom to four wonderful children is the greatest thing in the whole wide world!!
• That it's okay to ask for, and allow people to help
• A car ride is great, because you can legally restrain your children
  

Before and After

We just got Ada home today, and I would dare say that she is feeling so much better! (Wouldn't you agree?) I cannot believe how strong she is. She puts me to shame. Now all we have to do is keep her well until her heart surgery which will be in about 6weeks. The other kids are happy to have mom and dad around more. I am glad to not have to drive to the hospital everyday. Again thanks for all the prayers in our behalf.

Off the Ventilator

Ada is now off the ventilator. She spent yesterday and last night on cpap. She hates the cpap and they had to sedate her to make her cooperate. This morning they turned the cpap off and she is now on some high flow oxygen with a nasal cannula. She is slowly improving. Today I got to hold her for the first time since she got sick. It was amazing! She is so strong. Our family needs her. She is the glue that holds us together. Thank goodness for the plan of salvation and our knowledge of the gospel. That is what keeps me going.

Big Scare

Ada gave us a big scare on Friday. She had been sick and decided to stop breathing on us. I went in to wake her for her feeding and her color did not look very good. So I laid her on my bed and she was struggling to breathe. I ran for my phone and when I returned she was blue. I gave her a couple of rescue breaths and she pinked up a little, but continued to struggle. It felt like an eternity for the EMS to get to our house. Mason waited at the front door for them. I sent Sydney next door for help. Soon multiple EMS workers were there. Cole kept trying to kiss her. They quickly phoned for the helicopter to take her up to the hospital. They landed the helicopter right in our cul-de-sac. She is now on a ventilator assisting her breathing. She has a virus that is similar to RSV. This will set her surgery date back a couple of weeks, and Andy and I just aged 30 years. Thanks to the neighbors , family, and EMS for their help. We love you!!

With a face like that how can you say no to him! He is growing in leaps and bounds. That smile just makes me melt. What a stinker!

Too Cute

Ada is still a tiny squirt in her carseat. We went and spent the day up at Primary Children's on Wednesday. They did an echo with sedation. They gave her some medicine that made her very sleepy. She woke up as soon as the tech finished and ate, so we didn't have to go up to the recovery room. They drew some blood, which they had to poke her multiple times for. A nurse practitioner finally got blood from a head vein. She is scheduled for heart surgery on May 6, 2008. She has a VSD that needs repair. She was able to get another Synagis shot. Hopefully she will do well. She is still so tiny. She now weighs 8lbs. 7oz. She still weighs less than Sydney did at birth!! She loves her big brothers and sister. I unfortunately have to return to work. Tonight is my first night back. We'll see how I do. Wish us luck!
